The small story of how I got here:

Hi, I'm Drummer Dan.   From the time I was about 10 years old, I have had a passion for drums and percussion instruments.  It wouldn't be until my  early 20's, that I would find my true percussion calling in the acoustic hand drum.

I saw my first real drum circle in Eugene, Oregon, back in 1993 or 1994, the year the city of Eugene, OR ,  let the Grateful Dead play at Autzen Stadium again, for the first time in about 20 years.  I was never the same after that show, 4 days and nights on the scene with 70,000 other people, drum circles everywhere, people bartering and selling everywhere, on Shakedown St. and all around.    What a happening!

That is where I encountered ashikos, THE all around versatile drum.  The ashiko is like having a combination djembe/conga style drum, that can lead and deliver slaps and booming basses like a djembe, as well as quietly and emphatically support an acoustic guitar or flute.

And so I made hand drums for 20 years or more, BUT  in recent years,  I just got the FEVER for Trap Kits!!!  I eschewed modern trap kits for years, because I hated those fake shells, and plastic heads.

And then it occurred to me, that modern drum kits could be improved dramatically by adapting to better shells, and better membranes.
